横浜土曜柔道会は、近年、海外の柔道家たちが日本を訪れる“出稽古の場”として、少しずつ認知されはじめています。
In recent years, the Yokohama Saturday Judo Association has gradually gained recognition as a place where overseas judoka come to Japan for training.
「火曜日の練習にも参加したい」という問い合わせが、海外から直接届くようになったのは最近のこと。私が師範を務める火曜クラスも、徐々に国際色が増してきました。
Recently, I’ve started receiving direct inquiries from abroad asking to join our Tuesday sessions as well. My Tuesday class, where I serve as instructor, is becoming increasingly international.
昨年度、布田塾にはなんと中国から4人の小学生がやってきました。
Last year, four elementary school students from China visited our dojo, Fuda Juku.
北京市と成都市（四川省）からは8歳と10歳の女の子。連雲港市（江蘇省）からは11歳と9歳の男の兄弟。いずれも柔道衣をスーツケースに詰め、日本へと渡ってきた小さな柔道家たちです。
From Beijing and Chengdu (Sichuan), came two girls aged 8 and 10. From Lianyungang (Jiangsu), two brothers aged 11 and 9. These young judoka packed their judo uniforms into their suitcases and made the journey to Japan.

観光目的の来日であっても、「夜は日本の柔道を学びたい」と、自ら希望しての道場訪問。私たちにとっては当たり前の日常も、彼らにとっては憧れの舞台です。
Although they came primarily for sightseeing, they personally requested to train in judo during the evenings. What is everyday for us is a dream stage for them.
「もっと強くなりたい」
「本場の日本で、柔道を学びたい」
「将来は日本への留学も考えている」
“I want to become stronger.”
“I want to learn judo in Japan, where it was born.”
“I’m thinking about studying in Japan in the future.”
そんな想いを胸に、まだ小さな体で、まっすぐに畳に向き合う姿は、大人の私たちにさえ深い感動を与えてくれました。
With such dreams in their hearts, these small children stood seriously on the tatami. Their sincerity touched even us adults deeply.
片言の中国語でのコミュニケーションに苦労しながらも、身体を通じた指導に挑戦。技の説明が難しくても、彼らは驚くほどの集中力と柔軟性で動きをすぐに再現してみせます。言葉を超えた、まさに“柔道の力”を実感しました。
Though I struggled to communicate with my limited Chinese, I tried to teach through physical demonstration. Even without perfect explanations, they were amazingly quick to mimic the techniques with focus and flexibility. I truly felt the power of judo to transcend language.

今回は一人一人に向き合えた時間は本当に短く、たったの1日、2日。でもその短い時間の中で彼らのポテンシャルを強く感じました。
We had only one or two days with each of them—so brief. But even in that short time, I was struck by their potential.
「この子たちと、もっとじっくり時間をかけて稽古ができたら…」
“If only I could spend more time training with these kids…”
そんな想いが、胸の奥に残りました。
That thought lingers in my heart.
点と点の出会いを、やがて線に変えていきたい。
I hope to turn these momentary connections into lasting bonds.
再び彼らがこの道場を訪れてくれることを願って。
I look forward to the day they return to our dojo.

柔道という共通言語があったからこそ、生まれたこの素敵な国際交流の輪。これからも広げていきたいと思います。
It is precisely because we share the language of judo that such beautiful international exchanges are possible. I hope to continue expanding this circle.
そして私自身も、語学力を含め、指導者としてもっともっと成長しなければと痛感しています。
And I realized once again that I, too, must continue growing as an instructor—including improving my language skills.
柔道は技だけではない。人と人をつなぐ、心の道でもある。
Judo is not just about techniques. It is a path that connects people—heart to heart.
そのことを、4人の小さな柔道家たちが教えてくれました。
These four young judoka taught me that.
