台湾からの風｜A Breeze from Taiwan 台湾からの風 グランドスラム東京を目前に、世界中の柔道家が日本へ集まりはじめています。
その熱気が高まる中、今年も台湾ナショナルチームの劉監督が、私たち土曜柔道会へ出稽古に来てくれました。 With the Grand Slam Tokyo just around the corner, judoka from around the world have begun arriving in Japan. Amidst this rising excitement, once again this year, Coach Liu of the Taiwan National Team came to train with us at the Saturday Judo Club. 劉監督は、世界マスターズチャンピオン。
そして指導者としても五輪、世界選手権メダリストを育て上げた、世界屈指の名コーチ。 Coach Liu is a World Masters Champion. As a coach, he has developed numerous Olympic and World Championship medalists, making him one of the world’s top instructors. 彼の柔道に向き合う姿勢、技術への信念、そして選手を育てる視点。
どれもが圧倒的で、私たちにとって学ぶべき点ばかり。
毎年こうして横浜の同じ畳で息を合わせ、一緒に稽古ができること――

復活への道：アキレス腱断裂から挑んだ全国高段者大会 The Path to Recovery: Competing in the National High-Dan Judo Tournament After an Achilles Tendon Rupture

4月28日（日）に講道館で毎年開催される全国高段者大会に参加することができました。 I was able to participate in the National High-Dan Judo Tournament held annually at the Kodokan on Sunday, April 28th.  今年は1,200人の参加との事でした。 ちょうど一年前、同じ大会に出場する一週間前の稽古中に左足のアキレス腱を断裂するという大怪我を負いました。 Exactly one year ago, during practice a week before the same tournament, I suffered a major injury by rupturing my left Achilles tendon. 初めての手術、入院、そしてリハビリの経験が始まりました。救急車に初めて乗ったのもこの時でした。  This marked the beginning of my first experience with surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation. It was also my first time riding in an ambulance. 軸足である左足のアキレス腱を断裂し、柔道の技を掛けられなくなるのではないかという不安が頭をよぎりました。 The rupture of my left Achilles tendon, which is my pivot foot, made me worry that I might no longer be able to execute judo techniques. さらに、柔道そのものを十分に続けられなくなるのではという心配も抱きました。  I also had concerns about whether I would be able to continue practicing judo at all. 術後に補助具で足を固定している期間は十分に歩行することができず、脚力が著しく低下しました。  After the surgery, my foot was immobilized with ...

形の本質 The Essence of KATA

今年もいよいよ最終日です。 It is finally the last day of this year. 今年も、鎌倉の斎藤先生（六段）と恒例の忘年会。 This year, too, I had my annual year-end party with Saito Sensei (6-dan) in Kamakura. 斎藤六段との恒例忘年会 男二人で５時間も酒を酌み交わし、美味しい焼き鳥を頬張りながら柔道談義に花を咲かせちゃいました。 We two men spent five hours drinking sake, eating delicious yakitori, and talking about judo. 私たちは２０１５年の六段昇段への講道館護身術の形を一緒に受験してからのお付き合い。 We have known each other since we took the Kodokan DOSHINJYUTSU（self-defense） kata together for ６dan promotion in 2015. 日本では六段昇段の為には講道館護身術の形の「受け」そして「取り」双方の演武で合格しなければなりません。 In Japan, to be promoted to ６dan, one must pass both “UKE” and “TORI” demonstrations of Kodokan kata of GOSHINJYUTSU（self-defense）. 春に開催された神奈川県柔道連盟の審査会で初めて出会い、その場で動きを合わせて形を受験し、合格。 We met for the first time at a Kanagawa Judo Federation examination held in the spring and took the kata together on the spot, passing. 会長からは、その年の9月に開かれる関東柔道連盟主催の六段昇段審査会まで「もっと練習する様に！」とご指導を頂き、二人の稽古が始まりました。 The chairman instructed us to "practice more" until the Kanto Judo Feder...
