柔道愛と小説「七帝柔道記」への熱い想い My Passion for Judo and the Novel "Seven University Judo Chronicles"

先日、私のX（旧Twitter）で「木村政彦はなぜ力道山を殺さなかったか？」の著者、増田俊也さんからメッセージを頂きました。

Recently, I received a message on X (formerly Twitter) from Toshiya Masuda, the author of "Why Didn't Masahiko Kimura Kill Rikidōzan?". 

多くの柔道家が参加する土曜柔道会の活動についてつぶやいてくださったのです。

He tweeted about the activities of the Saturday Judo Club, which many judoka participate in.

増田先生に引用頂きました！

増田俊也さんのプロフィールを確認して驚いたことに、彼は私と同じ1965年生まれの同級生であることがわかりました。

To my surprise, when I checked Masuda's profile, I found out that he was born in the same year as me, 1965, making us classmates. 

さらに、北大柔道部ご出身で、国立大学柔道部に所属し、青春を柔道に捧げた経験も同じです。

Additionally, he is a graduate of Hokkaido University's Judo Club and dedicated his youth to judo at a national university, just like I did.

増田さんの作品「七帝柔道記」は、私が大好きな井上靖先生の「北の海」に次ぐ素晴らしい柔道小説です。

Masuda's work, "Seven University Judo Chronicles," is a superb judo novel, second only to my favorite, Yasushi Inoue's "The Sea of the North." 

初版が書店に並んだとき、私はすぐに購入し、一気に読破しました。

When the first edition hit the bookstore shelves, I immediately bought it and read it all in one go.

「七帝柔道記」は、柔道部の「あるある」や北大柔道部の独特な活動を細やかに描写しています。

"Seven University Judo Chronicles" intricately depicts the common experiences of judo clubs and the unique activities of the seven imperial university judo clubs. 

練習風景や取り組む感情が非常にリアルで、自分がその場にいるかのような感覚になります。

The detailed descriptions of the training scenes and the emotions involved make you feel as if you are actually there.

増田俊也さんの作品を通じて、柔道への情熱や青春の思い出が蘇り、改めて柔道の素晴らしさを感じました。

Through Masuda's work, my passion for judo and memories of my youth were rekindled, making me once again appreciate the greatness of judo. 

同じ1965年生まれとして、そして同じ柔道家として、増田さんの活動を応援し続けたいと思います。

As a fellow 1965-born and judoka, I will continue to support Masuda's activities.
