皆さんは「柔道」の正式な名称をご存知でしょうか？
Do you know the official name of "Judo"?

実は、「柔道」という呼び名の裏には、しっかりとした正式名称があります。
The term "Judo" actually has a full official name behind it.

その名も――「日本傳講道館柔道（にほんでんこうどうかんじゅうどう）」です。
That name is "Nihon-den Kodokan Judo", meaning "Kodokan Judo as handed down in Japan."

この名称には、「日本に伝わる講道館の柔道」という意味が込められています。
It signifies "Kodokan Judo as transmitted in Japan."

つまり、柔道とは、嘉納治五郎師範が創始した「講道館柔道」だけを指すのです。
In other words, Judo refers exclusively to "Kodokan Judo" founded by Professor Jigoro Kano.

どこかの団体や個人が勝手に作った格闘技を「柔道」と名乗ることは、本来認められていません。
Martial arts independently created by individuals or other groups are not officially allowed to call themselves "Judo."

また、古流武術のようにいくつもの流派があるわけではなく、柔道においては「講道館」が唯一の源流となります。
Unlike traditional martial arts that have various styles or schools, Kodokan is the sole origin of Judo.

世界でひとつ、「JUDO」という名の武道
JUDO: The One and Only Martial Art by This Name

国際的には、柔道は「JUDO」という表記で知られています。
Internationally, Judo is recognized under the name "JUDO".

国際柔道連盟（IJF）の規約（2013年）でも、次のように明記されています。
The International Judo Federation (IJF) regulations (2013) clearly state:

"Judo was created in 1882 by Professor Jigoro Kano."（Preamble）
「柔道は、嘉納治五郎師範によって1882年に創始された」（序文）

この記述が示す通り、世界で「JUDO」と呼ばれている武道は、ただひとつ――講道館柔道だけなのです。
As this quote indicates, the only martial art in the world recognized as "JUDO" is Kodokan Judo.
