先日、神奈川県柔道連盟主催の「七段・八段昇段祝賀会」が盛大に開催されました。 This past week, the Kanagawa Judo Federation hosted a grand promotion ceremony celebrating promotions to 7th and 8th dan ranks. この会は、柔道家としての人生の節目を祝う、非常に格式高い式典です。 This prestigious event marks a major milestone in the life of a judoka. 六段までは毎年昇段の機会がありますが、七段・八段となると話は別です。 While promotions up to 6th dan occur annually, things change significantly from the 7th dan onward. 2年に一度、全国の推薦者がその実績をもとに審議され、厳正な審査を経てようやく昇段が認められます。 Promotions to these ranks are only considered every two years and are granted only after careful review of one's lifetime contributions and achievements. 競技としての実績はもちろん、 指導者・審判としての貢献、地域や柔道界への普及・発展にどれほど尽力してきたか ――それら全てが評価の対象になります。 Not only competitive results, but also contributions as a coach, referee, and efforts to promote and develop judo in the community and beyond are all taken into account. 今年、神奈川県では7名の先生方が七段にご昇段されました。 This year, seven distinguished judoka from Kanagawa were promoted to 7th dan. その姿を目の前で拝見しながら、私...

これまでブログで報告しているように、今年の4月末から毎週火曜日に県立武道館で柔道教室を開いています。 As I've reported in my blog, since the end of April this year, I've been conducting a judo class every Tuesday at the Prefectural Budokan.  一般の方を対象にしていると謳っていましたが、蓋を開けてみると小学生や中学生が多く参加してくれています。 Although it was intended for the general public, it turns out that many elementary and junior high school students are participating. 一般稽古で集まった方々には自由に乱取りをしてもらうだけでも良いのですが、せっかくの機会でもあるので技の指導を中心に教室を進めています。 While it would be fine to let the participants freely engage in randori during the general practice, I decided to take this opportunity to provide instruction on techniques.  特に小中学生が多いことで、基本的な技術や理論を丁寧に説明することが増えました。 The presence of elementary and junior high school students has led to more frequent discussions on fundamental concepts. 私自身が町道場で育ったこともあり、まるで昔に戻ったかのような感覚で良い時間を過ごしています。 Having grown up training in a local dojo myself, I find this experience reminiscent of the old days, and I’m enjoying it immensely.  特に小学生高学年や中学1年生のクラスは素直で、指導...

皆さん、こんにちは！ Hello everyone! 私が担当することになった火曜柔道教室。 I'm excited to share about the Tuesday Judo class that I have the privilege of leading.  4月末から始まったこの教室は毎週火曜日の夜、神奈川県立武道館で行っています。 This class, which started at the end of April, is held every Tuesday evening at the Kanagawa Prefectural Budokan.  現役のサラリーマンである私は、多くの方々のご協力を得て、平日の18時半から柔道を指導することになりました。 As a full-time office worker, I am fortunate to receive a lot of support, allowing me to teach judo on weekday evenings from 6:30 PM. この教室は、18時半から一般の部として中学生以上の皆さんを対象にしています。 The class is aimed at people from junior high school age and up, starting at 6:30 PM, which is a time that people can just about manage to get to after work.  私としてはこの時間なら仕事帰りにもギリギリ間に合うため、担当を引き受けました。 I took on this responsibility because it fit well with my schedule.  しかし、始めてみると意外な展開が待っていました。 However, an unexpected development occurred once the classes began.  なんと、小中学生の皆さんが多数参加してくれるようになったのです！ To my surprise, a large number of elementary and junior high sch...

浅草の三社祭・親友との再会　 Asakusa's Sanja Matsuri and Reuniting with an Old Friend

十数年ぶりに、浅草の三社祭に行って来ました。 After more than a decade, I returned to Asakusa's Sanja Matsuri. 高校生の頃、浅草出身の同級生から「浅草の街は三社祭のために一年を過ごすんだよ！」と教えられ、一度だけ一緒にこの祭りを観に行きました。 When I was in high school, a classmate from Asakusa once told me, "The town lives the whole year for Sanja Matsuri!" We went to see the festival together just once. 浅草の街は、その期間中、カラフルな人々や地方から集まる担ぎ屋たちで溢れかえります。 During the festival, Asakusa is overflowing with colorful people and bearers from all over the country.  まるで祭りのためなら何をやってもOKと言わんばかりの不思議な雰囲気に包まれるのです。 The town is enveloped in an atmosphere that feels as if anything is permissible for the sake of the festival. 来年還暦を迎える歳になり、私はふとそんな独特な空気を再び感じたくなり、足を運びたいと思った瞬間に親友に声をかけました。 As I approach my sixtieth year, I felt a sudden urge to experience that unique atmosphere once more, so I reached out to my old friend. 親友。やはりかけがえのないものなのですね。 Old friends are truly irreplaceable.  気持ちが通じあうからこそ、声をかけると即答で「OK」と返事が返ってきました。 Because we understand each other so well, he immediately replied "...

多様性の解放とリーダーシップ　Liberation of diversity and leadership

YouTubeでの配信をはじめ、様々な活動を積極的に行っていると、外野から様々な意見や見解が出てくることがあります。 When you're actively engaged in various activities, such as streaming on YouTube, you often receive a wide range of opinions and perspectives from the sidelines.  こうした意見に対して、ChatGPTに相談したところ、「分裂的な政治的意見の相違」というものは「多様性の解放」として受け入れる心構えが大切だという答えを得ました。 I consulted ChatGPT about these outside opinions, and it suggested that embracing "divisive political differences" as a form of "unleashing diversity" is important. 私は多様な意見や見解が飛び交う中、リーダーとしての役割を果たすためには、自分の信念を持ち続け、活動を世のため、人のために進めていくことが重要だと思ってます。 As a leader, it's crucial to maintain your beliefs and continue advancing your activities for the benefit of society and others.  自分を信じ、軸をぶらさずに前進する事を心掛けています。 I believe in myself and strive to move forward without wavering. 自分への挑戦と新たな門出 Personal Challenges and New Beginnings ４月から週に２回、道衣を着る事は自分への挑戦です。 Starting in April, I've taken on the challenge of wearing a traditional martial arts uniform twice a week.  これは自分自身を高める...
