立技から寝技へ：柔道の真髄を伝える火曜柔道教室の挑戦 From Standing Techniques to Ground Techniques: The Challenge of Teaching Judo on Tuesdays

これまでブログで報告しているように、今年の4月末から毎週火曜日に県立武道館で柔道教室を開いています。

As I've reported in my blog, since the end of April this year, I've been conducting a judo class every Tuesday at the Prefectural Budokan. 

一般の方を対象にしていると謳っていましたが、蓋を開けてみると小学生や中学生が多く参加してくれています。

Although it was intended for the general public, it turns out that many elementary and junior high school students are participating.

一般稽古で集まった方々には自由に乱取りをしてもらうだけでも良いのですが、せっかくの機会でもあるので技の指導を中心に教室を進めています。

While it would be fine to let the participants freely engage in randori during the general practice, I decided to take this opportunity to provide instruction on techniques. 

特に小中学生が多いことで、基本的な技術や理論を丁寧に説明することが増えました。

The presence of elementary and junior high school students has led to more frequent discussions on fundamental concepts.

私自身が町道場で育ったこともあり、まるで昔に戻ったかのような感覚で良い時間を過ごしています。

Having grown up training in a local dojo myself, I find this experience reminiscent of the old days, and I’m enjoying it immensely. 

特に小学生高学年や中学1年生のクラスは素直で、指導した内容をすぐに実践してくれるので、教える側としてもとても魅力的でワクワクします。

Especially, the upper elementary and first-year junior high school students are very receptive, and they quickly put the instructions into practice. From an instructor's perspective, this is incredibly rewarding and exciting.

そして、この教室では特に寝技の指導に重点を置いています。

In this class, I’m placing a particular emphasis on teaching ground techniques. 

もしかすると、まだ寝技が軽視されている部分があるのかもしれません。

Perhaps ground techniques are still somewhat undervalued. 

しかし、グレイシー柔術の普及や柔道の国際ルールの改定により、寝技の重要性が再認識されていると思っています。

However, with the spread of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and changes in international judo rules, the importance of ground techniques is being re-emphasized.

私は皇后盃の試合記録を7〜8年取り続けて感じた事は、立技から寝技への連携の大切さなのです。

Having recorded matches at the Empress's Cup for 7-8 years, I've realized the importance of the transition from standing techniques to ground techniques. 

とりわけ女子柔道では、立技で綺麗な一本勝ちを収めるためには相当の技量差が必要だと思いました。

This is particularly true in women's judo. Winning with a clean throw requires a significant skill gap. 

しかし、皇后盃に出場するレベルの選手たちの共通点は、立技で崩れた相手を寝技でしっかりと仕留めることができる事なのです。

However, what the successful competitors at the Empress's Cup have in common is their ability to finish off their opponents with ground techniques after breaking their balance with standing techniques.

中でも、足技から寝技への連携は特筆すべきポイントだと感じました。

One point that stands out is the connection from foot techniques to ground techniques. 

火曜柔道教室に参加してくれている小中高生たちに、そんな視点で技の指導をしています。

In my Tuesday judo class, with many young participants, I often find myself focusing on teaching from this perspective. 

自分が現役時代に実現できなかった点でもありますが、その大切さを学んだ今だからこそ、指導に活かしていきたいと思っています。

It's something I couldn't fully realize during my active career, but now that I understand its importance, I want to incorporate it into my teaching.

柔道の楽しさを感じ始めた小中学生達に、立技も寝技も楽しめる柔道の魅力をしっかりと教えていきたいと思っています。

I want the young students who are beginning to appreciate the joy of judo to fully experience both the standing and ground aspects of the sport. 

これからも柔道の真髄を伝えるために、火曜柔道教室でこんな指導を続けて参ります。

I will continue to convey the essence of judo through my Tuesday classes.
