世界56人の柔道家が横浜へ。世界が集まる土曜の稽古 「No need to travel the world. The world comes to Yokohama.」
世界中の柔道家が、週末になると横浜へ集まる――。7月18日、神奈川県立武道館には56名の外国人柔道家を含む137名が集結。国籍も世代も超えた国際交流の現場を紹介します。
Every weekend, judoka from around the world gather in Yokohama. On July 18, a total of 137 judoka—including 56 international visitors—trained together at the Kanagawa Prefectural Budokan. Here's how JUDO YOKOHAMA is building a global community through Judo.
なぜ世界中の柔道家は、週末になると横浜を目指すのか。
Why do judoka from around the world make their way to Yokohama every weekend?
梅雨明け前とは思えない厳しい暑さが続く横浜。
それでも、この日の神奈川県立武道館には、ポルトガル、イタリア、ポーランド、オーストラリアをはじめ、56名の海外柔道家が集まりました。
Despite the intense summer heat before the end of Japan's rainy season, 56 international judoka gathered at the Kanagawa Prefectural Budokan in Yokohama, representing Portugal, Italy, Poland, Australia, and many other countries.
多くの皆さんは、講道館夏期講習会への参加者です。 昼間は東京都内や神奈川県内の道場で稽古を積み、夜になると横浜へ集まり、さらに汗を流します。
Many of them are attending the Kodokan Summer Training Course. During the day, they visit dojos around Tokyo and Kanagawa, and in the evening they come together again in Yokohama to continue training.
クラブチームとして来日するグループもあれば、一人で武者修行に訪れる柔道家もいます。 国籍も、年齢も、言葉も違います。 しかし、畳の上では柔道が共通言語です。
Some travel as club teams, while others come alone in search of new experiences and stronger opponents. Their nationalities, ages, and languages are all different, but on the tatami, Judo becomes their common language.
7月18日の稽古には、海外56名を含む総勢137名が同じ畳の上で汗を流しました。 技を掛け合い、教え合い、笑顔で握手を交わす。 そこには勝敗を超えた、柔道本来の価値があります。
On July 18, a total of 137 judoka, including 56 international visitors, trained together on the same tatami. They challenged one another, shared techniques, and exchanged smiles and handshakes. It was a powerful reminder that the true value of Judo extends far beyond winning and losing.
若い日本人選手たちにとっても、世界各国の柔道家と稽古できる経験は何ものにも代え難い財産です。 柔道だけではなく、世界を知り、人として成長するきっかけにもなると信じています。
For our young Japanese judoka, training alongside athletes from around the world is an irreplaceable experience. These encounters broaden their perspectives and help them grow—not only as competitors, but also as people.

世界中の柔道家が横浜へ来てくれるようになりました。 次の目標は、私たち自身が海外へ足を運び、横浜で出会った仲間と再会することです。
Judoka from all over the world are now coming to Yokohama. Our next goal is to travel abroad ourselves and reunite with the friends we first met here.
柔道を通じて築いた友情を、それぞれの国でさらに深めたい。 その第一歩として、シニア世代を中心とした海外柔道遠征プロジェクトを具体的に進めていきます。
We hope to deepen these friendships through international exchange. As the first step, we are accelerating plans for overseas Judo exchange tours, beginning with our senior members.
柔道は競技である前に、人と人をつなぐ文化です。 横浜で生まれた出会いを、これから世界へ広げていきます。
Judo is more than a sport—it is a culture that connects people. The friendships created in Yokohama are only the beginning. Together, we hope to spread this spirit throughout the world.
