4/2（土）〜３（日）に福岡で選抜体重別選手権大会が開催されました。

私の中の筆頭は、横浜土曜柔道会で共に汗を流した新井雄士選手(皇宮警察)が出場する大会となった事。

幼い頃から毎週通い、共に汗を流し技を身につけてきた選手がこのようなトップレベルの大会に出場したのです。

この興奮は過去に経験した事がなく、こんなに真剣に体重別選手権を観戦したのも私自身初めての事でした。

東京五輪ゴールドメダリスト阿部一二三選手と初戦で戦う組合せという点も興奮の要因かもしれません。

新井選手は、大会直前に土曜柔道会に挨拶へ来て頂けました。
Arai was kind enough to come and greet us at the Saturday Judo Club just before the tournament.
金メダリストと柔道スタイルが異なるし、よく考え対策打って欲しいと会話もできました。
We had a conversation about how the judo style is different from that of the gold medalists, and that you should think carefully about it and take measures.
試合結果は阿部選手の一本背負投で一本を取られ敗退。
The result of the match was that Abe's Ippon SeoiNage took Ippon and he lost the match.
しかし、しっかり組んで技をかける事に徹底し、正々堂々と晴れの舞台で戦う姿はとっても誇らしく感動を覚えた次第です。
However, I was very proud and impressed by the way he fought on the stage in a fair and square manner, making sure to work together and apply their techniques.
次回の対戦を楽しみにしたい！と真剣に思えた素晴らしい内容でした。
